Police sub-inspector commits suicide in Telangana

Sangareddy(Tel), Aug 17 (PTI) A police sub-inspectorallegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with hisservice revolver in Medak district in the wee hours today,with his family members alleging that he took the extreme stepdue to harassment by senior officers. Ramakrishna Reddy (aged around 45), the sub-inspectorposted at Kuknoorpally Police Station, allegedly shot himselfin the forehead with his service revolver in his house ataround 1.30 AM when he was alone, Togutta Police Station’scircle inspector said. The other policemen rushed to his quarters soon afterhearing the firing sound and found Reddy dead.The body waslater shifted to a hospital at Gajwel. The deceased’s family members alleged that he committedsuicide due to harassment by senior officers. They alsoclaimed that the deceased had written a suicide note in whichhe mentioned the reasons for taking the extreme step. However, police remained tight-lipped about anysuicide note found at the spot. Medak district Superintendent of Police ChandrashekarReddy visited Gajwel hospital. Police have registered a case and are looking at variousangles to find out the reason for the suicide. Ramakrishna Reddy was a native of Bakkamantram Gudemvillage in Mathampally madal of Nalgonda district. He had senthis wife and two children to their parental home two daysback. Before joining the police force in 2005, he had alsoworked in the Army, according to his relatives.PTI CORR GKDV
