Chandigarh, Aug 17 (PTI) Haryana government today said itwill conduct census of livestock in 2017 to prepare anaccurate data of cattle heads in the state. This was stated by Principal Secretary, Haryana AnimalHusbandry and Dairying Department, Abhilaksh Likhi at a reviewmeeting with officers of the Ambala Division, in Ambala. The government will launch special awareness campaignsfor providing information about the schemes for milch animals,especially for Haryana’s Sahiwal breed of cows, he saidadding, arrangements will be made to meet the shortage ofstaff in the department. Likhi said that the state government had introduced‘Pashudhan Bima YojanaÂ’ under which insurance was beingprovided to cows and buffaloes for a period of three years ata premium of Rs 100. Besides, insurance is also being provided to sheep, goatsand pigs at a premium of Rs 25. He directed the officers to effectively implementvaccination of animals to protect them from various diseases.PTI CHS FAR ZMNCHT
