Three arrested, SHO suspended after clash in Gokulpuri area New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) Members of two communitiesclashed over kite flying in the Gokulpuri area of north eastDelhi in which several persons were injured on IndependenceDay evening following which three persons have been arrestedwhile concerned SHO has been suspended. "We have arrested three persons for pelting stone andresorting to violence in connection with the clash thatoccurred around 3 pm yesterday. One person has been detainedand his role in the incident is yet to be verified," said AKSingla, DCP(northeast). The SHO of Gokulpuri who allegedly did not respondquickly to the incident to bring it under control has been"suspended", he said. The trigger for the clash was kite flying as twomotorcyclists objected to some person flying kite on the roadand asked them to give way at Shiv Vihar in Gokulpuri area,police said. Those who were flying kite allegedly manhandled the duowho went away but later returned accompanied with more menand clashed with the locals. The two groups resorted to stonepelting and bottle throwing. Police rushed to the spot and tried to bring thesituation under control but they were also targeted by thetrouble makers and one head constable sustained head injury,said the DCP. More police force was rushed to the spot and thesituation was brought under control. Normalcy has returned tothe area but police personnel have been deployed to preventfurther disturbance, he said. Senior police officers met the locals from bothcommunities as a confidence building step and sought theircooperation in maintaining peace in the area. PTI VITRG
