Two persons arrested for cheating a man around Rs 20 lakh

New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) Two persons have been arrestedfor allegedly cheating around Rs 20 lakh from a retiredgovernment employee in Ashok Nagar area of east Delhi. Accused Amit Singh and Rehan Siddique, were arrested bypolice from Shastri Nagar area, said DCP(east) Rishi Pal said. The arrest also resulted in recovery of 26 walkie-talkiephones, eight SIM cards, a laptop containing data of potentialvictims who were called and lured on the pretext of lifeinsurance policy bonuses. The duo were arrested following a complaint by retiredgovernment employee Kailash Nath Singh who was made to depositRs 19,88,500, in the bank account details provided by theaccused who had introduced themselves as LIC agents, said theofficer. During interrogation, they revealed that several officeswere run by them in different parts of Delhi and Noida whichwere used to lure potential victims and obtain money from themthrough bank deposits. They would purchase customer data fromvendors who sold them names, phone numbers and other detailsof large number of persons. PTI SLB VITRG
