Cong to launch a mass contact programme in Punjab

New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) Aiming to reach out to everyvoter in poll-bound Punjab, Congress will launch a specialcampaign, ‘Har Ghar Congress’, in the state soon. The decision to launch the mass contact programme, eitherin September or October, was taken at a meeting of PunjabCongress leaders with party vice president Rahul Gandhi heretoday. Sources said the top Congress leaders discussed theparty’s present position in Punjab which goes to polls earlynext year and its preparedness to take on the ruling Akali-BJPcombine and the AAP which is becoming a potent force. Congress’ state unit is also planning to launch anagitational programme with former PCC chief Partap Singh Bajwalaunching one in favour of farmers’ demands from August 26 inGurdaspur. Among those present in today’s meeting were stateCongress chief Amarinder Singh, party’s campaign committeechief Ambika Soni and AICC’s Punjab in-charge Asha Kumari.Political strategist Prashant Kishor was also present. The new campaign comes after "Halke Vich Captain" and"Coffee with Captain" initiatives. The aim is to reach out to more and more people and putacross the Congress’ point of view and the track record ofAmarinder Singh as Chief Minister.
