Dehradun, Aug 16 (PTI) In order to curb corruption in thestate, Congress in Uttarakhand today asked Chief MinisterHarish Rawat to speed up the appointment of theanti-corruption watchdog Lokayukta. "In the absence of these constitutional authorities, ithas become all the more difficult to keep corruption undercheck," Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyaysaid in a letter to Rawat. Citing the non-appointments of other key posts of ChiefInformation Commissioner and Information Commissioner, he alsorequested the state government to order judicial probe intoall corruption cases unearthed in the state since itscreation. Upadhyay said with the Congress now back in power afterthe President’s Rule, it can initiate steps in that direction. He also attacked the Centre for toppling ademocratically-elected government in the state on the basis ofa "so-called sting CD," and asked the Governor K K Paul toprovide the original copy of the CD to the party.
