From August 1, flyers will gain, find out how

Date:

The Director General of Civil Aviation has come out with new rules regarding cancellation of air tickets which are issued in India. These rules will be valid from August 1, 2016.
These new norms will put a cap on the amount of refund of air tickets in case of cancellation, non-utilisation of tickets and no-show. As per the norms, this amount shall not exceed, the basic fare and fuel surcharge charged by airlines on a particular route. This provision shall also be applicable for all types of fares offered including promos/special fares and where the basic fare is non-refundable.
At present, charges range up to 100% fare of the ticket, depending upon the cancellation on time before departure.

The guidelines also worked on the time duration in which this refund should return to the customers.
For card payments: return within 7 days.
The option to hold the amount in ‘credit shell’ after cancellation, will be a decision of the customer.
There is also a massive reduction in fee for carrying 5 kg extra baggage in an aircraft.

No additional charge for correction in name of the same person, when error in his name spelling is pointed out by the passenger to the airline after booking of his ticket.

For differently-abled customers, provisions for, ambulift or aerobridge or a towable ramp should be made available.
