Heavy rainfall claims 14; 72 missing in China

Continuous heavy rain in the past few days in central and southern part of China, have been killed 14 people and 72 others reported missing. The heavy rainfall has led to widespread flooding over a huge part of southern China.

According to reports till now 1.23 lakh people has been evacuated due to extremely heavy rainfall. Due to heavy rainfall, there has been extensive travel disruption in central and southern part of China. Xinhua news agency reported that the President Xi Jinping has advised officials to be ready for rescue work and flood control efforts as China is in its flood season. The government on Tuesday issued an orange alert, the second-highest in China’s four-tier warning system and warned that situation can worsen in coming days.
