For some time now, Shahid Kapoor’s life seems to be going on an upswing, professionally and personally. He recently appeared in the hit film- ‘Udta Punjab‘, and garnered much acclaim for his performance as the eccentric Tommy Singh.
In a much heartfelt interview with The Hindustan Times, the actor opened up about how his life has changed after marriage.
Shahid and wife Mira Rajput celebrated their 1st wedding anniversary on July 7th and are also expecting a new addition to the fam, in a few months time.
Shahid now believes himself to be in a “happy space” in life. He also ascertains that becoming a married man has given him stability in life.
“Short-term plans and a few days of flying around [for work] are fun, but eventually you need stability. Also, I have been living alone since I was 22, so I always wanted that family atmosphere. I used to feel lonely”, said the actor.
The 35-year-old also says, that while his parents, mother Neelima Azeem, and father Pankaj Kapur, both of whom are also actors, had always supported him, but having a family of your own gives one an immediate sense of sharing achievements and happiness.
He also says that having someone constantly concerned for your wellness, and asking “Have you reached?”, after a flight is something that he had missed before, but that today he feels happy to have Mira looking out for him.
When asked if he minded the compromise on freedom of being alone, for the perks of a committed life, Shahid gives a smart yet soulful reply, saying that, “If you have nothing to hide, then your freedom is not at stake. I don’t think I have anything to hide.”
On the work front, Shahid says he takes his time to start a new project and does not rush into a new film, as it takes time to jump from one role to another. His performances in his recent films have been a proof of the actor’s passion and abilities.
Shahid will next be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon, which is a period romance drama, set during World War II.
