
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday night arrived in Durban from Johannesburg for the second day of his South Africa trip.

On Saturday, PM Modi undertook a train journey to Pietermariztzurg station in memory of the 1893 incident in which Mahatma Gandhi was thrown out of a train compartment on account of his skin colour.

Following this, he would visit Gandhi’s Phoenix Settlement, a place very closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi’s stay in South Africa.

The PM is on a tour on four nation countries aimed at boosting ties in a region where where China has a strong presence.
India and South Africa signed four agreements on Friday following delegation level talks headed by Modi and South African President Jacob Zuma in Pretoria.
Modi also addressed a Indian diaspora rally in Johannesburg prior to his departure for Durban.
