A Spectacle for Tokyo Olympics 2020

Date:

What is better or more anticipated than the opening ceremony than that of the Olympics. While Rio Olympics 2016 are coming to a close Tokyo Olympics 2020 preparations are underway. The Japanese authorities are preparing to make their event the biggest ever.

The Tokyo Olympics 2020 will display something that has never been done before: a display of meteor shower. A Japanese start-up company called ALE has designed a satellite that will be sent up and to release meteor shaped bodies which will give the effect of a meteor shower. At $8100 per meteor, the shower will cost millions of dollars depending on the number of meteors and the duration of the meteor shower.

“It is artificial but I want to make really beautiful ones that can impress viewers,” Lena Okajima, CEO and founder of ALE.

In fact, the founder says that the colour of the meteor can be changed as well. The colour of descending meteors depends on their chemical composition and that can be altered. “The color is basically determined by the chemical makeup of debris,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist David Samuhel said. “For example, meteors made of magnesium emit a bluish-white light.”
