Wife’s tribute to her late Husband, joins air force like husband

Date:

What is true love?

If you are thinking about this million dollar question then the Panvel based Journalist Vinaya who is all set to join Indian Air Force, will certainly brings the answer for you.

26-year-old Vinaya Patil who married his childhood friend, Shasikant Damgude lost his husband in a road accident last year. Everything was blackened after the sudden death of Shasikant who was a flight Lieutenant.

A Post-Graduate degree holder in Journalism and Sociology Vinaya is a real brave-heart. She decided to change her profession and do what her husband did for long time for the country. She Sat for the Service Selection Board Examination (SSB) and passed successfully. Soon Vinaya will join training programme at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad.

“Shashikant loved challenges and he always encouraged me to challenge myself, and that is what I am doing by joining the IAF,” Vinaya told media.

Vinaya was working with a media house based in Mumbai and she applied for SSB in April. This was not easy for Vinaya. As she said “The preparation was pretty challenging– from elementary to complex maths and more. Everything had to be revised to crack the test,” she said. The exams were more a test of the person you are. So what was her strategy? “It’s the way one thinks, analyse a situation and react. So being yourself is the best you can do…and that is what I did.”

In this race Vinaya is not alone. Another brave-heart Swati, widow of Col. Santosh Yashwant Mahadik has also cleared SSB examination. Santosh Yashwant Mahadik lost his life while battling militants in the forests of Kupwara in Kashmir in November.

If this is not the true love then what else.

Team NM wishes Vinaya, a very bright career ahead.
