Republic Day celebrations may be fogged out if MeT prediction holds true

Residents of Delhi National Capital region, Gurgaon and Noida woke up to foggy and a cold morning. The cold and the fog affected the normal life in the capital. As many as 35 trains cancelled and 14 others were delayed. However, no flights were delayed or rescheduled.

At 5.30am, the temperature recorded was 5.24 degree Celsius in the capital city. This was a little below the season’s average. At certain areas, the visibility fell to 100 meters in the morning.

Friday was the lowest temperature recorded of the season.

According to the Indian Metrological Department, there will be moderate fog at a number of places and dense fog at a few places. Friday’s maximum and minimum temperature will likely to be around 18 and 4 degree Celsius respectively.

It is predicted that for the next two days, there will be clear skies, however, on January 26th might be a foggy day.

It isn’t just Delhi which is reeling under the intense cold wave. Other parts of North India have been affected by the cold. Jammu and Kashmir experienced a prolonged cold wave due to the dry weather.
