Kerala’s rock-theme Jatayu Park getting ready to woo visitors

Date:

Kerala is getting a brand new adventure park come January 2016. The Jatayu Nature Park is currently being set up at Chadayamangalam near the M.C. Road. The site chosen for the park is the exact spot where the mythical creature Jatayu was believed to have fallen from the sky after his fight with Raavan.

Spanning an area of 65 acres, the Park holds the distinction of having the world’s largest bird sculpture (200 feet long, 150 feet broad, 70 feet in height and having 15,000 square feet of floor area) of the great mythical bird Jatayu.

It is the first PPP tourism initiative in the state of Kerala under the BOT model.

The first phase of the Park will open in the first quarter of 2016 with an adventure zone which has a three km radius, an official release said here.

The zone will have more than 20 games, including paint ball, laser tag, archery, rifle shooting, rock climbing, bouldering, ATVs and rappelling, it said.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Majid Al Marri, Director Stakeholder Relations, International Operations, Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, conducted an aerial tour of the site yesterday.

The Park is being set up at an investment of Rs. 100 crore in the first phase of the project on land leased from the state government, it said.

Renowned filmmaker Rajiv Anchal, who has conceived and developed the Jatayu sculpture and is Chairman of Jatayupara Tourism Pvt Limited, said that “Jatayu Park will set a new milestone in Kerala Tourism and will elevate the experience of travellers to Kerala.”

Ajith Kumar, Director Jatayupara Tourism Pvt Ltd, said Jatayu Nature Park would become a compelling tourist destination for foreign, as well as domestic tourists.

He also said they were exploring potential areas of collaboration with Dubai Tourism.

Spread across three storeys, the Jatayu sculpture houses a unique digital museum, a 6D theatre, a lot of exclusive technological wonders and a bird’s eye view experience from 1,000 feet above sea level.

The first state-of-the-art cable car in South India is also being set up there.
