Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his visit to Malaysia, unveiled the statue of Swami Vivekananda on Sunday, and said that it was his good and great fortune to be present to dedicate the statue of the Swami on Malaysian soil.
“Swami Vivekananda is a symbol of India’s identity. We should imbibe his values. It was pursuit of truth that got Ramakrishna Paramhans and Swami ji together. They were not looking for a teacher or a disciple,” Prime Minister Modi said after unveiling the statue.
“Vivekananda is not just an individual’s name; he represents thousand year old Indian civilisation and culture. Vivekananda is not just a name. He personifies the thousands year old Indian culture and civilisation,” he added.
He insisted that Swami Vivekananda was not looking for a guru or any kind of religion but was in search of truth.
“We started with Upanishads, we have perhaps reached satellites. But if we are able to maintain our fundamental values, then we will be able to instill values of Swami Vivekananda in ourselves,” he said.
