A performance by Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor, popular for hit numbers like ‘Baby Doll’ and ‘Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan’, will greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he reaches London’s Wembley Stadium to address a gathering of the Indian community on November 13.
Kanika’s song will highlight the UK-India friendship. Titled ‘Hello Namaste’, the song has been described as a “festive upbeat Hinglish” number which highlights the UK-India friendship.
The song celebrates the ‘unbeatable combination’ between the UK and India and a new relationship between the two countries.
Marking the biggest community reception for any foreign elected leader on British soil, and themed ‘two great nations, one glorious future’, the 60,000-strong reception will follow two days of high-level engagements by the Indian Prime Minister starting with a visit to Downing Street and a lunch hosted by Her Majesty The Queen.
Those familiar with Kanika Kapoor’s selection said she was chosen as she is an example of an Indian woman who faced a bad marriage in the UK, and went on to become successful in her vocation. Kapoor will sing a new welcome song for Modi, which has been penned by ad guru Piyush Pandey.
A lunch hosted by Queen Elizabeth II and a visit to the Tata Motors’ owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) factory in Solihull are among some of Modi’s other engagements during the packed three-day schedule, which will also include unveiling a new Ambedkar memorial in north London.
The centrepiece of the much-anticipated visit has been highlighted as his address to a 60,000-strong largely Indian Diaspora audience at Wembley Stadium on November 13.
