Leh-Srinagar National Highway closed due to heavy snowfall

Srinagar: Heavy snowfall in Kashmir valley has led to closure of Leh- Srinagar National Highway (NH 1D) in Jammu and Kashmir for vehicular traffic since Tuesday evening due to heavy snowfall at Zojjila and adjoining areas.

Reports suggest that more than two feet snow has been accumulated at Zojjila, 10 inches at Menenamarg and four inches at Drass and heavy snowfall is still going on and due the snowfall.

Many passengers as well as vehicles have been stranded at Drass and Kargil.

People in Kargil seem to be worried as this year snowfall occurred one month earlier and the road is closed one month in advance.

Meanwhile Kargil Leh and Kargil Znskar Road are open for traffic till last information received.
