Kailash Vijayvargiya does a U-turn after outrage, retracts his tweets on SRK

Date:

After facing the flak for his tweets on Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya has now retracted his tweets saying his comments were misunderstood.

In a complete U turn, the minister on Wednesday posted on twitter that Shah Rukh Khan is the ‘most popular actor after Amitabh’.

On Tuesday, the BJP General Secretary posted on his twitter account saying the actor’s “heart lies in Pakistan”.
In a series of tweets, Vijayvargiya lashed out at Khan saying, “Shah Rukh lives in India, but his soul is in Pakistan. His films make crores here but he thinks India to be intolerant,” he said in a series of tweets amid mounting concerns over the “climate of intolerance” in the country.

After outrage from opposition and people across the country, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said that he condemns his comments out rightly.

TMC Minister Derek O’ Brien slammed Vijayvargiya for his comments and termed it as ‘”sickening”.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also sent the actor a message of support.
