New Delhi: Justice TS Thakur is set to be the next Chief Justice of India after the current CJI HL Dattu retires on December 2.
In the customary and a convention for the outgoing Chief Justice of India the current Chief Justice of India, HL Dattu, recommended Justice as his successor.
Centre will now process the recommendation and then send it for approval to the President after which a notification will be issued.
Justice Thakur will have tenure of one year and one month as the Chief Justice of India and will retire on January 3, 2017.
Justice Thakur, has served as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana and was also appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court in 2009.
