The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday moved the Calcutta High Court against Trinamool Congress leader Madan Mitra’s bail in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam.
The High Court has accepted the plea against the bail, and the matter has been listed for today. Earlier on Saturday, Mitra was granted conditional bail by a Alipore court on a personal bond of Rs. 2 lakh. The CBI had arlier said that it would do ‘everything in its power’ to get Mitra’s custody.
Mitra was arrested by the CBI in December last year in for his alleged involvement in the scam. The TMC leader has cited illness, lodging himself in the state-run SSKM Hospital since February 11. However, a day after the bail, Mitra went home from there after being declared fit by a Medical Board of the hospital, only a day after being granted bail.
