Just imagine being all dressed up for your flight and not being allowed to board? Why because if your dress or the lack of it. Yes. This lady scheduled to fly on an IndiGo aircraft was denied boarding, because she was dressed ‘inappropriately.’
If eyewitnesses are to be believed, before the flight was scheduled to take off from the Mumbai Airport, there was a commotion after which people saw a lady crying. This was the lady who wasn’t allowed to board the flight. Upon being asked for the reason, some passengers were told that her dress was too short, when actually she was wearing a knee-length frock.
Apparently, a few co-passengers who tried to argue on the lady’s behalf were told that they would not be allowed to board either, and that their luggage was beyond permissible limit.
The airlines confirmed the incident but claimed that the lady was a former employee and the sister of a current employee, and had chosen to avail the staff leisure travel privileges and had to adhere to a specific dress that staffers and ex staffers are aware of.
Whatever it is, the incident hasn’t go down too well in social media, many questions about democracy and a right to choice emerging from all quarters.
