Indian grandfather posed no threat: US cops

Imagine going the US to take care of a close relative and landing in the hospital instead.

When Sureshbhai Patel went to the US to take care of his grandson, little did he know that he would end up being in so much trouble for not knowing English.

It turns out that the grandfather was in fact innocent.

Patel was violently assaulted by a policeman leaving him partially paralysed did not pose any threat, two fellow officers testified during a retrial of the cop charged with use of excessive force.

Madison Police Officer Charles Spence testified that 58-year-old Sureshbhai Patel presented no threat to police. “To me, he appeared to be in his 70s,” said Spence.
