New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to put blanket ban on firecrackers during upcoming festive season. The decision came a after government exclaimed that it is not in favour to ban on firecrackers.
Adding to its decision, the apex court has directed the Centre, Delhi state government and Delhi Pollution Control Board to publish pollution awareness adverts from Oct 31 to Nov 12.
Filing an affidavit before the Supreme Court in response to a joint plea filed by three city-based infants for ban on the use of crackers during this Dussehra and Diwali, the Ministry of Environment and Forest had on Tuesday said the Central government has issued the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000 which regulate noise levels in different zones.
