The fourth one-day international (ODI) match against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is being played and the Proteas are likely to chase the history.
With a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, a win for South Africa will secure their first ever bilateral ODI series in India since 1992, when they re-entered the international cricket arena.
The hosts, who are on the verge of a second successive series defeat to the South Africans (India lost the T20 series 2-0), will have to summon their A-game now, to keep their hopes alive (as of now India is trying to put forward a decent target for SA to chase). The selectors, while announcing the teams for the fourth and fifth ODIs on 19 October had expressed concern on India’s underwhelming performance in the series thus far.
Here are the key highlights of the match after the first innings:
Kohli’s Masterclass
India lost quick wickets yet again in the final overs. Rabada got two consecutive wickets. First, Kohli was caught behind and then Harbhajan Singh was bowled between his legs in the first ball. Kohli remained powerful almost till the end with 138.
India has now put a target of 300 for South Africa.
