Gurgaon: In a tragic incident, a student was beaten to death at a birthday party in Gurgaon after a dispute over choice of music being played, police said on Tuesday.
Rohit Bhardwaj, second year BBA student of Delhi’s Indraprastha University, lost his life on Monday night during his friend’s birthday party.
The birthday party was organised in Gurgaon’s Subhash Nagar area on Monday.
Rohit, a resident of Krishna Colony, was at the party with his friends.
Assistant commissioner of Police (ACP) Hawa Singh said that a brawl started over playing songs and dancing on the floor.
Singh said that a group of people wanted to dance to their own choice of songs and reportedly asked Rohit to leave the dance floor.
The argument led to a fight and Rohit was beaten with hockey sticks and rods, police said.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital in an unconscious state but was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Police have detained a few people, including some students, over the incident.
