Four persons have been arrested when they were fleeing after stealing jewels and purse of a Dindigul businessman here, police said today.
Shylender, Manjus Kumar, Kishore and Lalith Kumar had taken the 5.5 soveriegn of gold chain and purse containing Rs 5000 when they were spotted by Kumar, the businessman. As he raised an alarm the others managed to overpower them.
Police said every year during Important days like Mahalaya Amavasya when lakhs of People gather in the sea shore for taking holy dip and doing ‘tarpan’ (pooja for forefathers) there had been complaints about theft of jewels and money.
They would be remanded to judicial custody today, police said.
