NFL Colts hope to have QB Luck for Thursday game at Houston

Date:

Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck is “trending in the right direction” as he recovers from a sore shoulder and could be on the field when the Colts play at Houston on Thursday.

Luck sat out the Colts’ overtime win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

But Colts coach Chuck Pagano said Luck took most of the team’s snaps in practice on Tuesday and threw the ball during the session.

“Getting better. Trending in the right direction. Always hopeful that he’ll be ready to go but we’ll do the smart thing,” Pagano said Tuesday of his star signal-caller. “There are no setbacks.”

The team’s regular weekly training schedule has been adjusted for the Thursday night away game, which Pagano was less than enthusiastic about.

“It’s hard on these guys. Especially when you play five quarters of football, too,” Pagano said.

“We didn’t plan on that but we had to. And we have to travel.

“This is four straight (years) where we’ve had to travel on Thursday night. I don’t know why. I guess that’s just how the schedule is,” he added.

“We’ve done well and we’ve handled it well… but it’s tough.”
