Yuvi-backed YouWeCan invests in sports startup SportyBeans

Date:

Yuvraj Singh seems as combative off the field as he is on a cricket pitch. The YouWeCan Ventures has invested in a sport startup, SportyBeans, which runs various sporting programmes for kids.

According to reports, Singh has picked up 10%-15% stake in SportyBeans. The startup caters to 1.5-8 year olds and has 35 centres across 17 cities.

Founded in 2009, SportyBeans is a multi-sport program for preschoolers and currently run classes for children at various locations across the country. The children from 2.5 years to 8 years of age are provided with a skills-driven, high-energy and fun-filled curriculum.
It introduces children to the fundamental concepts behind nine popular ball sports: baseball, soccer, basketball, golf, hockey, cricket, rugby, tennis and volleyball.

The company aims to raise around $8 million to $10 million, and aspires to have a network of more than 200 centres in the next two years with revenues of about Rs 80 crore.

SportyBeans has a base of 15,000 children per year.

Yuvraj Singh launched YouWeCan in April this year as a $10 million seed-stage venture capital fund, along with business associate Nishant Singhal to back internet startups in the country.
