Most Indians plan to buy cars during festive season and with festivals knocking at the door, carmakers are trying every possible way to woo customers.

From Suzuki to Renault, companies have slashed prices in order to attract customers. Automakers expect 2015-16 to be far more fertile and productive than the previous years.

We have seen the interest for compact SUVs in India grow by a great margin since the launch of Renault Duster in 2013. Then came Ford EcoSport, which took the madness for these urban SUVs to a whole new level.

NewsMobile jots downs a list of four wheelers for common man under 5 lakh (ex showroom).

Renault Kwid – Rs 2.57 lakh

French auto major Renault on September 24 launched its much awaited hatchback Kwid in India starting Rs 2.56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Kwid is offered in six variants with the top spec RXT (O) trim costing Rs 3.53 lakh.

The car is expected to compete with Maruti Suzuki’s best seller Alto and Hyundai Eon. The French carmaker claimed it returns 25.17 km per litre on petrol.

Datsun Go+ MPV – Rs 3.79 lakh

Having gotten off to a modest start with its Go hatchback, Nissan owned Datsun rolled out its second product, the GO+ MPV. The new hatchback is a sub-4 meter compact family wagon with a spacious interior and flexible three-row seating.

Launched in a total of four variants, D, D1, A, and T, the Go+ comes with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine that offers 68PS of peak power and 104Nm of peak torque.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio – Rs 3.97 lakh

In a bid to replace its existing cars – A-Star and Estilo – Maruti Suzuki rolled out Celerio. A compact hatchback, Celerio brought with it, an Automated Manual Transmission, thus making it the first car in the segment.
Celerio comes with a 1.0-litre K-Series engine that churns out a maximum power output of 67bhp, and returns an impressive mileage of 23.1km/litre.

Hyundai Eon – Rs 3.11 lakh

Hyundai unveiled Eon for the first time in the market in 2011, which proved to be the real competitor for Alto. Slowly, Eon was named as the car for the youth which boosted its domestic sale.
Eon comes in 814cc avatar, but the 1-litre engine is powered with latest technologies – Dual VTVT, DOHC and lightweight cylinder block, and punches out 68bbhp while the mileage stands at 20.3Km/l. Hyundai also has an option for LPG.

Chevrolet Sail hatchback – Rs 4.69 lakh

Designed especially for middle class buyers, Chevrolet Sail U-VA is a worth for money. A complete package of features and performance, Sail U-VA, is not only stylish, but also attracts a big fan following. The car has bagged larger sales figures for Chevrolet.
Chevrolet Sail Hatchback comes in 8 versions with 2 engine, 1 transmission and 2 fuel options. The diesel versions are powered by the very same 1.3-litre Smartech diesel engine while the petrol versions are powered by a 1.2-litre petrol trim of the very same Smartech engine.

Maruti Suzuki Swift – Rs 4.06 lakh

The Maruti Suzuki Swift SP Limited Edition was launched in India in September 2015. The car draws power from two capable engines – a 1.2-litre DOHC, VVT, K-Series petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS, DOHC diesel that are mated to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox.
