Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, who was the primary leader of the India’s Independence movement, struggled all his life for the dignity and Independence of all Indians. On Friday, on the occasion of Bapu’s birthday, let’s take a look at some of the beautiful creations of Bollywood which changed our perception about Mahatma Gandhi and his Gandhigiri.

Movies like Lage Raho Munnabhai, Gandhi, My Father, had a huge impact on people and was responsible for the resurrection of Bapu’s philosophies and theories, in an all new way that is through Ganghigiri.

This film got critically acclaimed and is one of the famous films till date. It depicts on the major events which took place in the life of Mahatma Gandhi during British rule over the country.  This is one of the most inspiring movies till date.

Hey Ram (2000):

This film is directed by Kamal Hassan and it tells the story of the time when India had a partition and about the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi by the Hindu extremist Nathuram Godse. Although the film did not do fair business at the box office, but the film was nominated as India’s official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Film category in 2000.

Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara (2005):

The film which was directed by Jahnu Barua, is about a confused old man being investigated when he makes an astounding claim. While all his life he believes that he killed Gandhi, his children make him realise that he didn’t. Anupam Kher played the character of that old man and the movie got appreciation from one and all.

Lage Raho Munnabhai (2006):

This is one of those films which changed the meaning of Gandhiji’s philosophy towards everything. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the movie created a lot of impact among people and it made ‘Gandhigiri’ the coolest trend of the recent times. This was the first movie which was shown at the United Nations and received a standing ovation from everyone. Munna bhai was a perfect blend of both humour and emotions. Giving everyone the message of peace, love and forgiveness.

Gandhi, My Father (2007):

Gandhi, My Father

The film was directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and was produced by Anil Kapoor, the flim focused on the uneasy relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and his son Harilal Gandhi. It portrays on the differences between a father-son duo relationships. Their different ideologies towards the circumstances lead to clashes between them.
