Oh bummer, Barack’s ‘Prez Modi’ blooper

Date:

President Modi? President Barack Obama referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as president in the middle of a statement he made at the end of their meeting on Monday.

In the video of his remarks posted on the White House web site, Obama can be heard saying, “We are encouraged by the aggressive nature of President Modi’s commitment to clean energy.”

The slip happened at roughly the one-minute mark, where Obama can be heard saying ‘President Modi’ instead of Prime Minister.
It was recorded in the first White House transcript of his remarks. The White House later issued an updated transcript with the error corrected. Here’s what it said.

“Much of our discussion today focused on the upcoming climate conference in Paris. We agreed that this is a critical issue for the world; that all of us have responsibilities. We are encouraged by the aggressive nature of *President Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to clean energy.”
