We live on a planet that’s brimming with roadside romeos, some, just harmless, some, indulging in a bit of banter and some with full blown audacity. While most of them are happy just staring at women passing them by, some resort to cat calling and passing lewd comments. For the rest, and a major part of this breed, sight and dirty talk doesn’t really work.
They prefer the real deal, you know, a tiny brush against a lady, a few moments of physical contact, or a bit even more of it. Perhaps, for these people, to release their sexual tension, porn is the best way. For these people, easy access to porn works like a charm. And, no women injured, hurt or abused.
It might kind of sound a bit odd, but perhaps porn is a stress buster for many people. Say, for a man who has back from work, tired, clearly having a bad day. Wife’s bickering, bad food and all coupled together could do potential damage. That’s when porn comes into play. Even the forever alone types, or the ones who have recently faced a heartbreak would swear by porn. For many couples, it’s perhaps a way of reviving some magic.
We are no advocates of porn, but the ban on 857 pornsites is going to do more harm than good. The cause is actually a noble one — to get to the root of child pornography and perhaps pluck it out forever. But, considering the mammoth number of porn sites available on the internet, it’s absolutely not possible to block all of them. What makes it all the more challenging is the fact that most of them are hosted outside the country, where porn is legal.
When the access to porn is cut off, some desperate souls would be on the prowl, on the streets, where one of our sisters, mothers, friends, wives would be walking. Isn’t that dangerous, considering how bad the situation already is?
In fact, making this point stronger are results from the Czech Republic, which shows an inverse relationship between availability of porn and sexual crimes. These results reveal that after the increase in availability of porn, Â sexual crimes have either been stagnant, or have gone down.
Even though a crackdown on child pornography is a great motive, yet, banning porn comes with its own set of repercussions. Perhaps, it would have been better had it been thought over a bit well. However, all said and done, predators of little children ought to be dealt with in the sternest ways possible and the Indian judiciary needs to come down heavily on this form of crime. But then, banning porn might just escalate it, instead of curbing it.
