Kabaddi player’s medal: a broken nose!

Is this what sportspersons deserve? A thrashing?

A national level sportsperson deserves the best of facilities, all the backing that he/she needs to make it big and win laurels for the nation. Instead, Dolly Singh, a national level kabaddi player from Kanpur was thrashed and her nose was broken.

Why? Because she resisted a molestation attempt. There are two layers of crime here.

One, the molestation itself.  A woman shouldn’t be molested. She isn’t anyone’s private property. Secondly, when such a heinous act is being committed, which woman would ‘allow’ it to happen?

Naturally, when she resisted, they let her off, only to come back and beat the living daylights out of her. Assaulted in broad daylight by a group of goons, she was left with a bloodied and broken nose.

Singh was quoted by ANI as saying, “When I had come back home a month back, some locals in the village had mistreated me. On 12 June some 10-12 boys with their faces covered came and started abusing me. They even hit me. I received severe injuries. They did so because I complained against them.”

A probe has been ordered into the incidents but no arrests have been made so far.
