CBSE dilly-dallying

Date:

New Delhi: Are you among the one who are waiting for AIPMT re-test dates? You may have to wait for some more time as the row has taken another turn.

After Supreme Court scrapped All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) results on June 15, and directed CBSE to re-conduct the examination with-in four weeks, the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday said it is “impossible” to conduct it within four weeks.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear CBSE plea on Friday seeking more time to re-conduct the pre-medical exam.

A Bench of Justices R K Agrawal and Amitava Roy stood on and called the verdict to discourage the unfair means played by students to succeed.

The bench stated if the court allowed the May 3 exam to survive, a wrong message would be sent that crime pays and students would be encouraged to resort to unfair means.

SC on June 5 stayed the AIPMT results following allegations of malpractice in the examination with as many as 700 students receiving answer keys through mobile phones.

The fate of at least 6.3 lakh MBBS aspirants has been hanging in balance because of the delay in the examination.
