Nimrat Kaur out of 'Azhar' biopic

Date:

It seems Ekta Kapoor’s helmed ‘Azhar’, a biopic on India’s finest cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin, is one of those films whose cast is unable to stick to the project due to some or the other reason.

Ever since Azhar biopic was announced, there were constant speculations about who will play the role of Azhar’s wife.

Earlier, it was decided that Prachi Desai will play the role of Azharuddin’s first wife Naureen and Nargis Fakhri as his second wife. But then there was news that Nargis Fakhri is being considered to play Sangeeta Bijlani, second wife of Azharuddin, and Nimrat Kaur to play the role of lawyer.

But according to a latest buzz, Nimrat has walked out of the movie.

Although the reasons are not clear why the actress opted out of the project but, according to close sources, Nimrat was not too happy with her role, as well as the script.

The movie was about to go on floors in London from July onwards, but due to all the mess, the movie has been put on halt for some time.

Meanwhile, the actress denied the reports of signing the project and while talking to a leading daily she said, “Yes I was approached to do ‘Azhar’ but I had never signed the film. It was one of those films I was considering. How can I walkout of a film I haven’t even signed? Beyond that, I won’t be able to tell anything else.”

‘Azhar’ is directed by Tony D’Souza and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and MSM Motion Pictures, and its deals with former cricketer’s personal as well as professional life.

The teaser of the film was launched in the presence of the former cricketer, Mohammad Azharuddin and Emraan Hashmi, who plays Azharin the film.

Azhar is slated for a worldwide release on May 13, 2016.
