Why Housing CEO Rahul Yadav is a media hogger

Date:

Hyderabad: Rahul Yadav has become a ‘house’hold name now. He shot to fame when the IIT-B dropout co-founded a relatively novel website — one that caters to people looking to rent, sell or buy houses – housing.com, a one-stop solution to all Indian housing problems.

Honestly, it was quite a catch. Having checked it out myself, I was pretty impressed with the variety it had to offer. I mean, even for a sleepy little corner of Hyderabad called Nizampet, Housing.com was giving me ample variety for every budget. I declared housing.com to be the next big thing.

Until, of course, their 26-year-old CEO Rahul Yadav began losing his mind.

Quick recap for your benefit if you aren’t already aware of the ruckus this guy has created. So, he quit. And he didn’t JUST quit. He quit with a rather humiliating letter penned to his colleagues, demeaning their intelligence and showing hints of arrogance. He challenged their decision-making capabilities, saying  his colleagues — COO and co-founder Advitiya Sharma, SoftBank’s Nikesh Arora, Helion Venture Partners’ Ashish Gupta and Nexus Venture Partners’ Suvir Sujan. Mr Arora — were not “intellectually capable enough to have any sensible discussion anymore.”

He didn’t stop at that. A bonanza for the employees, he just decided to ‘donate’ his Rs 200 crores worth shares to them, which effectively meant they would get one year’s salary worth of shares. He then in his note on Facebook, challenged Deepinder Goyal and Bhavish Aggarwal, founders, Zomato and Ola, respectively, to give away half their stake.

On Tuesday, he answered questions on reddit, brewing yet another controversy.

Dear 26-and-all-pumped up Yadav, you might have frozen your claim to fame, but this very act of yours might turn up against you when you least expect it and bite your backside blue. Quit the arrogance. People should know you for something constructive you do. You, my dear friend, have lost the ‘plot’.
