Music was his first love and he learned to play the piano at the age of five. He comes from a single-parent household.

When he was 11, he got hands on a copy of music-sequencing program Fruity Loops; he started to play around with samples, creating his own songs. 

After leaving school, he studied graphic design for a year before embarking on a career as DJ/producer.

Bombing dance floors with energetic performances, this globetrotting DJ is championing the worldwide explosion and popularity of Electronic Dance Music.

Childhood

Nick van de Wall aka Afrojack was born on September 9, 1987 in Spijkenisse, Netherlands.  He developed an interest in music at an early age.  

Being a very creative student, he spent most of his time listening to all kinds of music while studying.

Career

 In 2001, Afrojack started deejaying at local pubs and clubs, earning additional income with designing websites for fellow musicians.

He went to Greece in 2006 deejaying for five full months straight in every club that would have him; learning the craft. He returned home determined to get his productions released on a label.

In 2006 he released ‘In Your Face’, the first recording under the Afrojack name. The 18-year-old’s recording scored #60 in the Dutch Top 100 and #3 in the Dutch dance Top 30.

 He exploded on the music scene in 2010 with the release of ‘Take Over Control’ -­ an instant worldwide club and chart hit the single reached platinum status in the US.  Afrojack then went onto develop his own imprint in the production world with his label ‘Wall Recordings’.

In 2011, Afrojack was sued along with Pitbull and Ne-Yo by Lindsay Lohan, due to the song’s lyrics referencing her name. Pitbull later won the lawsuit. The world heard more and more from Afrojack as he appeared at many important EDM festivals, like Mystery Land, Tomorrowland (Belgium), Extrema Outdoor and Sensation.

Befitting his position as the leading figure of the Dutch DJs, his success stretches far beyond his home turf; 2012 saw him become one of the most in demand DJ/producers of any nationality.

Personal Life

Afrojack and Paris Hilton dated for 6 months, while he was producing her second album. From a previous relationship to Dutch model Amanda Balk he has a daughter, Vegas.

 He is also an avid car enthusiast.
