The 68th Annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off on May 13, as the grand opening ceremony started in a couple of hours, with a number of Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities strutting their stuff in designer outfits on the red carpet. Here’s NewsMobile’s in-depth analysis of the event so far.
The Indian Contingent:
This year’s Cannes Fest saw a number of Indian faces. Sonam Kapoor, who was roped in by L’Oreal in 2010, was seen attending Cannes for the fifth time. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has been attending the fest since 2002, didn’t miss it this time either. She is expected to make an appearance on the 17th and 20th. Katrina Kaif made her debut and even Mallika Sherawat marked her attendance.
Social butterflies
At the event, Katrina was clicked with Hollywood actress Julianne Moore. The duo looked stunning as they posed for the shutterbugs. Moore recently received the best actress honour at the Academy Awards.
At the Un Regard Section at Cannes 2015, two films–Chauthi Koot (Punjabi) and Maasan (Hindi) are being showcased. No mainstream Bollywood or other regional films will be shown. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s debut production, Miyan Kal Aana, directed by his brother Shamas Siddiqui will also be screened at the festival. However, Nawazuddin won’t be attending the screening.
What they wore?
All the eyes were set on Katrina Kaif who made her debut at the Cannes this year. The actor arrived for the opening ceremony and the screening of the film La Tete Haute in a stunning black off-shoulder Oscar de la Renta gown.
Mallika Sherawat was spotted at Paul Allen’s super yacht Octopus with her gang of gals, in an off shoulder bodycon red gown.
What’s in the pipeline?
Sonam Kapoor is one lady everyone is looking forward to. The fashion icon is making sure everything is in place before she heads to the French Riviera. She’s exercised well, eaten right and got adequate rest. She has been apparently taking time out from her busy schedule to follow her skincare and beauty regime. She is also pumping iron at the gym, and then digging into a healthy meal.
