New Delhi:Â Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas is in the middle of yet another controversy after Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) summoned him over a complaint of a female party member.
An AAP member has filed a complaint against him for having an illicit relationship with her.
DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh said that the girl has written a complaint letter to Police Commissioner as well as AAP founder and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Commission has sent summons to Kumar Vishwas and asked him to appear before it on Tuesday.
Kumar Vishwas laughed off the allegations and said that all the claims are false.
“I know the girl and she has often referred to me as ‘Bhaiya’. There is no veracity in her claims and all this is a well co-ordinated smear campaign against me and my party,” Vishwas said.
Meanwhile AAP’s rivals have been quick to jump on the news, with BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay even calling for police action because this “incident has ruined the girl’s family life”
JP Aggarwal, of the Congress said that it was important for the AAP leader to clarify because it was a ‘serious matter’.
This is not the first time that Vishwas has been caught in the middle of a controversy, In the past too, Vishwas has been accused of passing sexist remarks.
Attacking Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kiran bedi during the campaigning for 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, Vishwas had said, “Two problems BJP has with Arvind Kejriwal. One is that he wears a muffler, has he snatched from you and worn? One of them says he coughs a lot. What is your problem? Do you have to sleep with him in his bedroom or what?”.
In a stage show in 2008, he had made racist remarks against Malayali nurses, he said that nurses from Kerala are black in complexion and that is the reason they do not have profile pictures on Facebook. In addition, he said that due to their colour they are called “sister” by patients.
