Candle light vigil observed in Punjab over teens death following molestation in bus

Moga: People in Moga city observed a candle light vigil over teen’s death following her molestation onboard a bus. A teenage girl died after she and her mother were forced to jump off a moving bus to escape molesters late on April 29 night in Punjab state. The incident took place on a highway connecting Moga and Bathinda cities in Punjab. As per reports, four people, including the bus driver and his attendant, have been arrested. Residents in Moga lit candles and shouted slogans demanding the state government to take action against the culprits. Meanwhile, the girl�s father, Sukhdev has rejected the compensation offered to him by the government and demanded justice. The incident has come as a major embarrassment for the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal government as the bus in which the alleged crime took place is co-owned by the state’s deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
