The Jammu and Srinagar highway was badly ruptured in the 2014 September floods, it further suffered damages due to landslides triggered by unseasonable rains in March. The snow removal operation started in March. Heavy machinery specialised to remove snow is being used in the zone, affected by regular avalanches.
