Rajouri: With parts of the crucial Srinagar-Jammu highway damaged in floods, state authorities in Kashmir began work to restore Mughal Road as an alternate route linking the two parts of the state. State chief Mufti Muhammad Sayeed had asked the Central government to declare Mughal Road as an alternate highway to the only link between Kashmir and rest of the country. The Jammu and Srinagar highway was badly ruptured in the 2014 September floods, it further suffered damages due to landslides triggered by unseasonable rains in March. The snow removal operation started in March. Heavy machinery specialised to remove snow is being used in the zone, affected by regular avalanches.
