Mumbai: Sallu Bhai, as Salman Khan is popularly referred to, is one of the most loved personalities in the film industry. Yet this man, the face of ‘Being Human’, is the epitome of a walking talking irony. While Salman has two cases against him, that take him far from this ‘being human’ image, he’s also in news for adopting an impoverished woman and her family.
This Bollywood superstar on Wednesday recorded his statement in the Jodhpur sessions court, in the Arms Act case—an offshoot of the 1998 black buck poaching case. He is charged with alleged illegal poaching of two black bucks while shooting for his film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ in the city.
It has been reported that defence lawyer has sought the permission to present some more witnesses in relation to the case. Salman has pleaded innocent, as per reports and next date for hearing has been decided as May 4, 2015.
Reports suggest that Salman was accompanied by his younger sister Arpita and her husband Aayush to the court. Parallely, on Mondaythe sessions court had called for the record of the subordinate court in relation to the illegal possession and use of arms by Salman Khan on the Bollywood actor`s revision plea.
District and Sessions Judge, Jodhpur, Manoj Kumar Vyas, while admitting the revision petition moved by Salman for hearing, ordered summons of the record from the court of chief judicial magistrate and posted the matter on May 1 for detailed hearing.
Salman has been shuffling between the court hearings of his on-going cases, as well as the shoot for the final schedule of Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
Although Salman has been very busy and tensed as the final verdict of his 2002 hit and run case comes closer, the actor recently decided to extend his warm support to an impoverished widow’s family in Kashmir.
According to reports, 75-year-old Zaina Begum approached the actor during his shoot seeking help. Begum has reportedly been struggling with her 40-year-old widowed daughter to raise her four grandchildren, who moved in with her after the demise of their father.
The actor also reportedly told Zaina’s eldest grandson that he could be with him till he wrapped up the schedule in Kashmir, after which he can fly to Mumbai and work with the star.
Salman is currently in Pahalgam shooting with his co-star Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Kareena Kapoor is also expected to join the crew soon.
The team will be shooting some high-octane action sequences in the valley, and are expected to be there for the next couple of weeks.
