Hyederabad: It was curtains on the fixing scam, with Gurunath Meiyappan having no escape route. Srinivasan promptly washed his hands off the ‘matter’. The case was closed. Mustafa Kamal raised a hue and cry about Srinivasan handing out the World Cup Trophy. But, he resigned, and the ICC let him. Case closed, again. There were no more bones to pick with anyone else. Srinivasan was inactive, invisible. But, for how long? Maybe, this was the lull before the storm.
So, he chose the BCCI, India’s own cricket board.
Remember BCCI, that stood by him through thick and thin, electing him unopposed, even when the world and its wife were baying for his blood. They postponed their election dates, till eternity, so that he could participate. Yes, that same BCCI. If reports are to be believed, Srinivasan had hired a London agency for a paltry Rs 14 crores, just so that, you know, he could keep his IQ updated. This being Srinivasan’s IQ, for it to stay updated, it would require a normal fuel of, well normal things, which would include calls of top BCCI officials tapped, their emails monitored et all.
Now that the BCCI has come to know of this, they feel…cheated. Yes. Earlier, Srinivasan had just undervalued (undervalued being an understatement) his Chennai Super Kings worth at Rs 5 lakh. Now this. But then, the snoopgate story doesn’t really end there. Guess who all of this was supposedly funded by. The BCCI, silly! Without their knowledge, of course!
So, Srinivasan didn’t just make an absolute fool out of them, he did that with their own money, as well. Talk about insult to injury now! On a more serious note, Srinivasan has managed to turn off one loyal contingent that he had. It is believed that the BCCI will now launch an official probe against him, headed by new secretary Anurag Thakur.
It’s now power vs power. Let’s see who’s the last man standing.
