Pak vessel with 8 smugglers intercepted off Porbandar coast

Date:

Ahmedabad: A Pakistani vessel with 8 suspected smugglers on board was understood to have been intercepted off the coast of Porbandar on Monday.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of the Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy.

They said that the ship is suspected to have been involved in smuggling.

This comes just months after a Pakistani fishing boat said to be carrying explosives was intercepted by the Indian Coast Guard before it exploded and caught fire and sunk with four crew members on board.

The incident had occurred on the intervening night of December 31, 2014, and January 1 some 365-km off the Porbander coast after a hot pursuit by the Coast Guard.
