Motormouth Saeed raises anti-India agenda again

Date:

Peshawar: Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief and 26/11 Mumbai attacks mastermind Hafiz Mohammad Saeed  spewed venom yet again as he made an anti-India call at a rally in Pakistan.

Issuing a new threat, Saeed called India “the number one enemy”. The rally was attended by MPs of Nawaz Sharif’s ruling PML(N), Imran khan’s PTI and Jamat-e-Islami. It was called in support of Saudi Arabia’s war against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Speaking in an interview to Channel 24, he said, “We support Pakistan, Pakistan government and Pakistan Army in their effort to help the people of Kashmir who don’t have freedom. And we call it jihad”.

His statement comes on a day when Chinese President Xi Jinping is in Pakistan for a 2-day state visit. This is Xi Jinping’s first visit to Pakistan. Ahead of the trip, Xi said that visiting Pakistan is like visiting the home of a brother.

Saeed is known for making provocative and controversial remarks aimed at spreading anti-India sentiments and instigating terror and violence.

Saeed, has in past often accused India of planning attacks in Pakistan. Last year, Saeed also blamed India for Peshawar school attack that saw more than 150 being killed in a massacre, the responsibility for which was claimed by the Taliban. Last year, Twitter suspended his account as most of his tweets were provocative and terror-instigating.

Saeed had come out in support of Kashmiri separatists and admitted that his organisation is backing the Pakistan Army wage jihad in the valley.

“If India is not ready to give their rights and if they fire then jihad is the only way. Pakistan has always taken a stand that it is the right of a Kashmiri to get azadi. So, we say whenever our army takes a stand on helping the Kashmiris then we stand by the forces,” he had said.

Hafiz Saeed also has a bounty of $10 million imposed on his head by the US.
