Everything you need to know about Priyanka-Deepikas dance off

Date:

Mumbai: Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra will compete for Ranveer Singh in a dance-off act in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

The song will be shot over a period of 12 days in Mumbai, for which the rehearsals have already begun.

The sequence which has two actresses pitted against each other is choreographed by Remo D’souza. The choreographer who is best known for his western dance style will be venturing out of his comfort zone for this one.

Priyanka said, “We have just two days to rehearse but Deepika and I are friends since long. There’s a lot of drama in the song and we are supporting and encouraging each other. We rehearse together and it’s fun. I don’t think there has been a number like this one since Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Dola Re in Devdas. So I’m aware that the expectations are high.”

Though it is essentially a lavani number, it would be a mix of folk and classical dance as well. Remo will be dedicating the number to his inspiration, Saroj Khan.

Priyanka had taken time off the project to head to Los Angeles, where she bagged a role in an international television series. On her return, she was out on several occasions promoting her upcoming family drama ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.

Recently, she took to her social networking handles to post a picture of herself taking a power nap during her dance practice session with famed choreographer Shampa Sonthalia.

Deepika will soon join for their practice session. It was reported that Deepika and Priyanka will engage in a larger-than-life lavani dance number that will have the two leading ladies sweat it out to win over Ranveer Singh’s heart.

The last time two actresses competed on the dance floor was in SLB’s own Devdas, but that was 13 years ago.
