Sun rises as Challengers hit by lightning ‘Boult’

Date:

Sunrisers Hyderabad saw their fortunes shine, as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 wickets on Monday.

In reply to the 166 posted by the RCB side, SRH began with Warner and Dhawan taking charge, racing away with the score to 58/0 in 5 overs. The first wicket to fall was that of Warmer, taken by Chahal for 57 in the 8th over.

New man Williamson made a guest appearance, taken by Chahl again for 5, taking the score to 95/2, with 72 needed from 50 balls. Lokesh Rahul (44) and Shikhar Dhawan (50) took the team to win.

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bowl first. Opening the batting for the side were Gayle and Kohli, and the beginning was swashbuckling, trademark Kohli and Gayle, RCB racing away to 39/0 in  overs. But Gayle didn’t survive, perishing to Praveen Kumar for 21 in the 6th over, bringing Karthik into the crease. At the end of 10 overs, the score was 77/1.

Karthik was the next man to depart, taken by Sharma for 9, bringing AB de Villiers in, but Kohli’s wicket tumbled from the other end, plotted by Bopara for 41. Mandeep Singh fell on the first ball, bringing together Sammy and Villiers, taking the score to 114/4 in 15 overs.

Sammy fell in the next over, taken by Reddy for 6, bringing Sean Abbott into the middle, but just when the going looked good for the RCB side, Boult wreaked havoc, claiming the scalps of de Villiers (46), Abbott (14) and Williamson for 2. Praveen Kumar wiped off the tail with Aaron (6) and Ahmed (4), wrapping up the RCB innings for 166.
