PM congratulates scientists for successful Agni-V test-firing

Date:

Odisha: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated scientists for the successful test-firing of India’s longest range ballistic missile Agni-V.

“Successful test-firing of Agni V from a canister makes the missile a prized asset for our forces. I salute our scientists for their efforts,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

Agni-V was successfully test-fired on Saturday from a canister on the Wheeler Island off the coast of Odisha.

Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), this is the missile’s third launch. However, it is the first from a canister, a method that allows the missile to be fired even from roads. The missile can carry a 1.1-tonne nuclear warhead over 5,000 km.
