NaMo revives BJPs Delhi dreams

Date:

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party was feeling down and out after all its strategies against Aam Aadmi Party seemed to be failing in the run up to the elections in Delhi.

Prime Minister Modi’s rally in the heart of East Delhi was held to salvage the party’s chances to win in the city and to save face for both the party and himself after a landslide victory across the nation.

“India’s identity is linked to Delhi. In a way I have become a ‘Dilli Wasi’…I came here because you called me”, Modi said addressing the rally.
He also stated that this election is not only about who your MLA or who your CM will be. This election is about what kind of image India will have in front of the world.

Reposing his faith on the voters of Delhi, Modi said Krishnanagar will give Delhi its new Chief Minister after the elections. He also recited the faith reposed on his party during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in which BJP won all the seven MP seats and got a clear mandate to build a strong government at the centre.

Attacking Aam Aadmi Party, Modi said that a year ago the people of Delhi voted with some dreams but the very people who they voted for betrayed them and took them towards instability.

He also asked the voters to check the track record of the candidates who creates illusion instead of working.
Making a direct attack on AAP Modi said, “Once in a while lies can work, people can be misled. But all the time you cannot do it.”

During his speech Modi said Delhi needs a stable government. And praising its CM candidate Kiran Bedi’s administrative skills and her prior experience in the national capital Modi said, “Kiran Ji knows Delhi very well and she will take Delhi to new heights.”

Slamming Congress which ruled the national capital for 15 years Modi said, “If there is a world record for losing deposits of maximum seats, you know who it is  and how they mislead people.”

Modi also highlighted the Delhi-Haryana water issue  and said despite a Congress government in Delhi and Haryana respectively, the water issue was not sorted out.

Praising Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar Modi said that Delhi was waterless but when BJP came to power in Haryana and the CM took steps to sort out water problem of Delhi.”

In his speech, Modi stressed on the development agenda of its party. Urging voters to vote for his party Modi said, “I am here to serve you and walk shoulder to shoulder with you. I am here to remove the problems you have been facing for the last 15 years.”

“Elect a govt with whom I can work shoulder to shoulder towards making a positive difference in your lives. I want to serve every street of Delhi,” Modi further said.

To woo voters Modi also reminded of the promises it made for the concrete apartment blocks in the slums. PM stressed on the cleanising of Yamuna which is the pride of Delhi.

Mentioning youth voters in his speech Modi said, “India is a youthful country. A country with such percentage of young blood, has the capability to change the fate of the world.”

“If the world is looking upto India today, it’s not because of Modi but because of its people”, Modi added.

While Modi’s rally has added momentum to BJP’s campaign it remains to be seen if Modi magic can turn into votes for BJP in the battle of Delhi.
