New Delhi:Â The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday released its manifesto, outlining its goals and mission for Delhi, ahead of the February 7 polls in Delhi. In a press conference held at the Constitutional Club at New Delhi, Yogendra Yadav walked the media through the details of the manifesto.
The manifesto focused on the party’s agenda for ensuring development, women’s safety, water and electricity supply across the city. AAP also ensured that gram sabhas would be empowered to make decisions regarding Delhi’s villages including extension of Lal Dora. Land acquisition in these villages would be possible only with permission of Gram Sabha.
The party has promised to pass the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill within 15 days of coming to power.
In the manifesto priority has been given to sewage treatment and industrial effluent treatment to prevent polluted water from flowing in Yamuna. Special reservations have been made for all senior citizens and youth of the nation.
Environment and women related issues have all been given a special space in the released manifesto. AAP’s manifesto is work of 4 months. “It’s about what kind of Delhi we want. One where low class, middle class & everyone develops,” AAP said.
AAP plans to establish a unified transport authority for a holistic transport policy. Also they have promised a special commitment to provide high quality public transport in the capital.
For increasing employment AAP shall fill all vacant government posts, provide better facilities to industrial areas and provide young entrepreneurs loans at low interest rates.
The manifesto will also have the promise of enforcing an education loan guarantee scheme wherein the government will stand guaranteer for every person who takes the loan ruling out the need for land or any other mortgage.
The manifesto is going all-out to woo the poor and the middle class with the slogan “big change without big spending”. We will also make Delhi into a free wifi zone, we will make Delhi into a manufacturing hub and open 20 new colleges in the city,” AAP said.
Kejriwal requested BJP president Amit Shah to retract his statement that Delhi people are not ready for full statehood. Attacking BJP, Kejriwal said that BJP had pressed the panic button and was indulging in the politics of blame game. Calling BJP’s ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi a puppet CM, AAP said that BJP was not releasing its manifesto as they had not even fulfilled the promises made by them before in the Lok Sabha elections. While praising their own worth, Kejriwal moved on to say that all promises made in the manifesto would be fulfilled at the earliest.
With just seven days to go before Delhi votes, the parties are leaving no stone unturned to woo voters.
